Those Marvelous Blues...
Imagine your home in the midst of winter. It can be a bit dreary, can't it? There's nothing better to plant to round out your yard for all seasons than evergreens.
Think all blue spruce are the same? We've got some varieties that will fit every style and home landscape, and they are all rock-solid hardy for our region.
Everyone knows the classic Colorado Blue Spruce (Picea pungens) - up to 60 feet tall and 20 feet wide, it is lovely when small, but unless you have a really big yard, they can quickly outgrow their spot and become a problem.
Do you love that great blue color but don't have the space? Be sure to check into our 'Columnar' Blue Spruce. They are a compact variety that get to be only 15 to 20 feet tall and 4 to 7 feet wide - a perfect addition for a smaller garden or perhaps an island planting.
'Fat Albert' is another blue spruce variety lives up to its name! Slowly growing to 15 feet tall, 8 to 10 feet wide, it has a perfect cone shape that never needs staking or training. The needles are strong, electric blue in color all year-round.
The third in our "blues" series is the low-growing 'Globe' Blue Spruce. It is compact and rounded, just 3 to 5 ft. high and 5 to 6 ft. wide. It provides a nice accompaniment to the larger varieties and can add balance to a landscape planting.
Come look over these marvelous blues and add some interest to your landscape this fall.
