Welcome to The Garden Center Blog!

As we have served our local area for the last 20+ years, we have come to be known by many names, 'Split Mountain Garden Center', 'Split Mountain Nursery', 'The Nursery in Jensen', or put even simpler, 'The Garden Center.' With that in mind, we are excited to welcome you to The Garden Center Blog!

This will be a place where we will share more of what we love about plants, gardening, and helping things grow here in the Uintah Basin and western Colorado region.

Whether you’ve been gardening for years, are planting your first flower bed, or simply enjoy learning about plants, we hope you’ll find something here that is useful, interesting, and fun.

One of the things we’re most excited about is our Plant of the Week! Each week, we’ll spotlight a different plant and highlight some of its traits! You might see a favorite tree, shrub, perennial, houseplant, fruit tree, vegetable, or something else! We’ll share information like its planting and growing requirements, interesting characteristics, and other helpful details!

We’ll also be sharing gardening tips, helpful articles, fun plant facts, seasonal reminders, and business updates. You can expect answers to both common gardening and landscape questions, and more complex topics like winter sun damage or pruning tips.

We aim to add lots of color to this blog with plenty of plant photos, and the occasional video as needed. Ultimately, our goal is to make this a useful place to check back throughout the year for ideas and information that are relevant to gardeners and landscapers in our area.

And don’t worry — there’s no subscription required. Just stop by whenever you’d like and see what’s new. We’ve learned a lot over the years from working with plants and talking with gardeners, and we’re excited to have another way to share that information with our community.
