Serrano produces slim green peppers about 2–4 inches long that turn red when fully ripe. The flavor is bright, crisp, and noticeably hotter than a jalapeño, usually around 10,000–25,000 Scoville heat units. It is especially popular for fresh salsa, sauces, and dishes where a clean pepper heat is wanted.
