Habanero produces small lantern-shaped peppers, usually about 1–2 inches long, that ripen to orange or other bright colors depending on the strain. The fruit has a fruity, almost tropical flavor along with very strong heat, commonly around 100,000–350,000 Scoville heat units. It is especially valued for hot sauces and recipes where both fruity flavor and intense heat are wanted.
